BoE Extended - The Expansion of the Basics! Published by Achim Schlöffel on 2009-07-23

ISE is proud to offer the new BoE Extended class.

While teaching BoE lately we more and more came to the conclusion that the class has all the prequesits needed to safely introduce a diver to the use of Heluimbased recreational mixes. ISE Instructor Yang Yihao and Achim Schlöffel went to the drawing board and therfore designed the Extension of the class.

So whats the difference?

The class is open to every BoE Student older than 16 who passed the initial BoE class. Participation requires one additional day with one or two dives and a lecture explaining the use of 30/30 hyperoxic trimix.

Some facts:

- It is possible that students pass the BoE and fail the BoE+!

- The BoE+ can be booked as it is - but the iunstructor can decide that the student is not ready for the extension and   limt the class to the regular BoE.

We strongly believe that this is a great way to introduce divers to the use of Helium even for non technical dives and that it greatly enhances the fun and safety of recreational diving. The feedback of the first two classes proof this right!

"Outview to Hyperoxic Trimix - that´s what the BoE manual headline promised after explaining Nitrox. When preparing for our BoE in Portofino from 15.7.09 - 18.7.09 we had absolutely no clue what kind of mythical creature this thing was supposed to be.

When the course started out and theory lesson covered the range of gas mixes on the BoE training level we wanted to know everything about it.

As it turned out Hyperoxic Trimix 30/30 is close to Nitrox 32 when it comes to depth range and bottom time. But in the Hyperoxic Trimix 30% of Nitrogen are replaced with 30% Helium. Diving recreational since almost 20 years I had a few bad run ins with Nitrogen narcosis at various depths. This was a revelation...the best of both worlds in a handy package. A recreational outfit with all the advantages of advanced tech diving, basically without the hassles of double tanks and stages. After Achim and Yang had explained it to us a lengthy fruitful discussion ensued. At the end of it a new class was born: The BoE Extended or BoE +.

We were thrilled to try the Extension. Mercifully our instructors saw us fit to pass the BoE. So on the 19th of Juli we saw our very first true Trimix dive. Fact is, I hardly realized the effect of the new gas until we were well into the dive. I was so occupied to put all the new found BoE knowledge into action and not embarrass myself before my trainers, that I suddenly realized that we were at 30 Meters and I didn´t have any trouble calculating numbers. Then I realized that I hadn´t turned up the valve on my regulator to increase flow. Even though breathing came easily. It was just like swimming along a reef in 10 meter depth. Simply amazing! Wish I could switch over to Hyperoxic Trimix 30/30 as my recreational standard gas. All in all the Hyperoxic Trimix Extension  is the perfect completion to the BoE. So you not only get a honing of your diving skills but the right and ability to dive with the perfect recreational gas. This makes the BoE+ the perfect sub-tech level course for those who seek entry in the world of tech-diving or just perfecting their recreational diving skills. We would redo it in in a heartbeat! Stay safe & have fun!

Michael Vill & Martina Kreikenbaum"

This is the nicest and easiest way to get a diver on the right gas throughout  the whole industry. We are looking forward to see the program run and appreciate Your feedback and comments.
